USA Todays 10 Best - Small Town Cultural Scene

vote-dtown.png

Bigger isn’t always better, especially when it comes to the 20 towns nominated for the USA Today 10 Best contest. To be eligible for voting, only towns with populations fewer than 30,000 people and a strong cultural reach were considered.

Doylestown has been at the top of the leaderboard since the contest went live. Home to over 8,000 residents, the Doylestown Arts Festival, Michener Art Museum, Mercer Museum, Fonthill Castle, Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, the County Theater, as well as a robust array of galleries, restaurants, and locally owned shops and boutiques, Doylestown is nationally recognized as a "destination" town. In June 2017, Philadelphia magazine named Doylestown "best fun suburban town"; in 2013, Travel + Leisure magazine called Doylestown one of "America's [top 20] favorite towns."

Doylestown is known for being the home of author James A. Michener, architect and archaeologist Henry Chapman Mercer, artist Charles Sheeler, lyricist and playwright Oscar Hammerstein II and his protégé Stephen Sondheim, Nobel Prize-winning author Pearl S. Buck, anthropologist Margaret Mead, and the pop singer Pink.

Voting is available at bitly.com/votedtown through May 6th at noon ET. The 10 winning towns will be announced Friday, May 17th
